Consultation on Technical Reforms to Council Tax.

Details were given of a consultation paper issued by the Department for Communities and Local Government concerning proposed technical reforms of council tax. The report set out responses made to the questions posed in the paper and submitted following liaison with the Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance in order to meet the consultation deadline of 29 December 2011.
With reference to the section of the paper on Empty Homes, the Director of Health and Housing offered to report to the Strategic Housing Advisory Board on the arrangements in place to identify empty homes in the Borough and bring them back into use.
The Cabinet resolved that:
The responses to the consultation document submitted in liaison with the Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, as set out at Annex 2 to the report, be retrospectively endorsed.
Reasons: As set out in the joint report of the Director of Finance and Cabinet Member for Finance.
